New Stitch Shibori Workshop
Some of my students have really enjoyed planning out their stitch shibori compositions. With a nod to that inclination, I have designed a new stitch shibori workshop that will meet for two sessions. In first session, you will learn a new stitch that you will practice that day on provided fiber with the pattern sketched in for you - the focus is to practice the stitch not about composition. The idea is to learn the stitch, pull the threads and dye it so you can see how your hands create the pattern.
You will leave that session with a thorough understanding of that stitch. You will also leave with a scoured tea towel that you will take home. In the intervening weeks, you will create a new composition and stitch the piece. When we reconvene (on a date to be determined by the group), you will come back with your textile already stitched and the threads pulled. We will go over any questions, then dip the fiber in the indigo vat at least three times and then rip out the stitches for the big reveal.
