Shibori Mending Kit
Shibori Mending Kit
Did you know that with the rise of fast fashion, the average US consumer throws away over 80 pounds of clothes a year? But using simple techniques, you can easily make mends to your jeans and shirts, turning them into bespoke items that elevate your wardrobe. And the best part? You are diverting your clothes from landfills.
Introducing the Shibori Mending Kit!
I combined my love of mending with my natural dye practice to create this shibori mending kit. Each kit includes 5 four-inch square patches that have been dyed in an organic indigo vat using various shibori patterns. The patches are from different weights of fibers so you can mend a variety of clothes, not just jeans. They include hemp, linen and cotton. Depending on the size of your holes, you can cut a patch and use it for several mends!
The mending kit includes:
5 hand-dyed indigo patches
2 sashiko needles
Japanese-style snips
100% cotton sashiko thread (20m)
embroidery thread (8m)
I was very conscious with the packaging and sourced materials to be as eco-responsible as possible. The kit comes packaged in an organic cotton muslin pouch and a cute yet sturdy paper tube. Both items can be reused for various functions. (Hint: the paper tube is perfect for holding your sewing/mending supplies.)
Please note: the exact patterns of the patches may differ from what is photographed.
